7.30am - Meet at the hotel lobby and travel by road about 1 hour to Kota Belud Town passing through paddy fields, humble villages and a scenic view of the countryside. In good weather, one can see the majestic Mount Kinabalu in the distance. Kota Belud is the home of the Bajau community, one of the native tribes in Sabah, commonly known as the ‘Cowboys of the East’ because of their lifestyle on horseback.

The market will only be held on Sunday as the street will come alive with the local residence setting up stalls to sell their handcrafted products or produce. Widely known as 'Tamu' by the local people, means 'meeting' place for traders in the area as they exchange gossips and news while selling their local produce. It’s a souvenir frenzy as visitors can purchase and bargain anything from handcrafted gifts to locally made jewelry ranging from necklaces to bracelets. So be sure to brush-up on your bargaining skills and be awed by the unique merchandise. After the trip, return to Kota Kinabalu.
